Flesh

There is no idealization in this pictorial exploration or objectification of the male body. In these closely framed ambiguous fragments it might take a moment to decipher body parts. I focused on the skin and that which comes with it; stubble, wrinkles, creases and freckles. Direct and honest realist lighting exaggerates the details of flesh. As with many of my subjects, I am attracted to the qualities that are often less desirable or viewed as imperfections. In this fragmentary vision of the body something as simple as an Adam’s apple can be simultaneously sensual and repulsive.
